Where We Make a Difference
We work on different fronts of the health system: clinical and community support in HIV and TB, maternal and child health, community engagement, infrastructure strengthening, pharmacies, laboratories, patient literacy, human rights, and research.

Care and Treatment for People Living with HIV
CCS supports the Ministry of Health in implementing interventions aimed at strengthening the quality and continuity of care and treatment for children, adolescents, and adults living with HIV.
Tuberculosis (TB)
Under the "Strengthening the National Response for TB Elimination" Project, CCS supports the implementation of clinical activities (in 2 provinces, funded by CDC) and community activities (in 7 provinces, funded by the Global Fund).
Psychosocial Support (PSS)
The psychosocial approach for People Living with HIV (PLHIV) at health facilities aims to ensure comprehensive and humanized follow-up from enrollment to sustained adherence to HIV treatment, including children, adolescents, young people, adults, tuberculosis patients, as well as pregnant and lactating women.
Health Testing and Counseling (HTC)
In this area, CCS supports the MoH in implementing voluntary and provider-initiated testing approaches, ensuring services are accessible, inclusive, and of quality. Interventions cover both health facilities and the community, with special focus on distribution of self-tests and conventional HIV testing for priority populations and groups with difficulties accessing health services.
Maternal and Child Health (MCH)
CCS contributes to reducing vertical HIV transmission by promoting continuous care for pregnant women, lactating women, and exposed children. In parallel, it supports prevention and screening for cervical cancer, focusing on women living with HIV. These interventions strengthen women's and children's health, aligned with national targets for eliminating these diseases.
Laboratory
CCS supports strengthening laboratory quality and HIV viral load diagnosis in Mozambique, promoting the use of liquid plasma and technical capacity building for teams. Additionally, it integrates laboratory and clinical systems, enabling specimen submission, real-time result reception, and evidence-based decision-making.
Pharmacy
CCS supports pharmacy activities at Health Facilities, ensuring access to essential medicines and implementation of MoH guidelines. It acts in logistics management, stock monitoring, and pharmacy rehabilitation, improving organization and patient service. These interventions strengthen ART service coverage and pharmaceutical care quality.
Violence Mitigation
CCS supports Maputo City in implementing violence mitigation activities, covering 26 Health Facilities. Of these, four function as Integrated Service Centers (ISC), Mavalane General Hospital, Bagamoio Health Center, 1 de Maio Health Center, and Malhangalene Health Center, rehabilitated with CCS support.
Community Engagement
CCS strengthens the link between communities and health facilities, working with CBOs and FBOs to increase ART patient retention, improve tuberculosis case notification, and promote health literacy. Actions include community dialogues, male engagement, mobilization campaigns, and referrals to health services, contributing to a more inclusive and sustainable community response.
Institutional Capacity
Since 2018, with Global Fund financing, CCS strengthens the capacities of 45 CBOs and Networks of People Living with HIV and TB, covering 11 provinces and more than 2,300 community actors. Through institutional assessment, training, and mentoring with the OCA Tool, organizations have evolved to higher development levels, ensuring greater autonomy and sustainability in the community response to HIV and Tuberculosis.
Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E)
CCS conducts Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) activities to ensure projects achieve expected results, through collection and analysis of quality data in systems such as OpenMRS, iDART, DISA-Link, DHIS2, muzima, and ComCare. These actions strengthen the HIV and Tuberculosis response, ensuring information security and promoting more resilient and sustainable health systems.
Communication
CCS's Communication area ensures production, management, and dissemination of institutional and health education information, in accordance with MoH standards. Through multiple platforms and formats, including social media, website, and audiovisual materials, it promotes inclusive and contextualized access to information, strengthening community engagement in the HIV and Tuberculosis response.
Human Rights
CCS, through the Global Fund Project, integrates promotion and protection of Human Rights into the HIV and Tuberculosis response, with actions in 11 provinces and 127 districts aimed at eliminating stigma, discrimination, gender inequalities, and barriers to access to justice, ensuring all people have equitable, dignified, and non-discriminatory access to health, justice, and social protection services.
Research and Evaluations
CCS's Research and Evaluations Sector produces evidence that guides continuous improvement of interventions, documenting best practices and conducting operational and implementation studies. The area supports development of new interventions, builds technical staff capacity, and promotes inter-institutional collaboration for more effective and sustainable health results.
